SURABAYA: The National Awakening Party (PKB) announced on Friday that it would dishonorably discharge a party councilor at the Pasuruan Legislative Council(DPRD) in East Java after the politician was recently allegedly caught red-handed using crystal methamphetamine.

The councilor, identified as ID, was arrested by the police along with two prostitutes at a hotel in Surabaya, East Java, on Tuesday night.

PKB's East Java chapter secretary Thoriqul Haq said party leaders had decided on Thursday night that they would directly appoint someone to replace ID at the DPRD.

Asked whether the party had received an official report from the police regarding the case, Thoriqul said it did not need to wait.

"His urine tested positive for drugs anyway. He was directly fired and replaced," Thoriqul said, as quoted by tribunnews.com.
