Italian tourist Dominico Franco was discovered severely beaten by two teenagers early yesterday morning in Pran Buri, Prachuap Khiri Khan.
He was discovered in a pool of blood near the entrance to Evason Hotel and was taken to Hua Hin Hospital.
He later told police that the teenagers, thought to be between 15 and 16 years old, beat him about the head with a baseball bat, before robbing him of Bt500 (S$20), a shirt and a crash helmet.
Before the attack, the three had been drinking beer together. The two teenagers then offered Franco a ride to his hotel, as his motorcycle could not be started.
Pasitta Inthaphand, director of the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) for Prachuap Khiri Khan, said she was upset because this incident marred the province's image as a major tourist destination.
