It's hot in Mumbai

The city recorded its hottest day since the start of November on Nov 3 since 1951. In Santa Cruz the maximum temperature touched 37 deg C.

The all-time record for the month is 37.4 deg C, recorded on Nov 4, 1979 and 2003. Deputy director-general of meteorology K.S. Hosalikar from the Regional Meteorological Centre said the rising temperature is caused by a change in wind patterns from Cyclone Nilofar.

During October, the cyclone was over the Arabian Sea, which caused cool winds to reduce the temperatures.

Now, the cyclone is carrying easterly winds from the land which are known to be hot. These wind patterns are expected to change by December.
