Japanese rescue team arrives in typhoon-ravaged Philippines

PHILIPPINES - A 25-member Japanese rescue and medical team has arrived in typhoon-ravaged Leyte Island, Philippines, according to the Japan International Cooperation Agency.

On Wednesday morning, three members of the team went to the city of Tacloban on the island, where a typhoon inflicted the most devastating damage several days ago, and began discussions with local hospitals and other authorities to launch a relief mission there. The remaining members were to arrive in the city later that day, JICA said.
