Jiangsu commuter slaps driver 12 times after being told not to smoke on bus

A commuter on board a bus in China went berserk and slapped its driver 12 times, simply because he was told not to smoke.

A video posted on Apple Daily shows the driver trying to dodge the man's vicious attack by shielding his face.

According to Shanghaiist, the dispute had started with an argument, which seemed to have been settled, until the still-angry man, a 27-year-old surnamed Wang, ran over and started attacking the driver.

He then tried to alight the bus, but had the doors closed on him by the driver, who also called the police.

His attempts to escape by jumping off the bus at a junction was foiled as he was eventually chased down.

He will be serving detention for at least seven days.

The bus driver sustained two bruised eyes, a bloody nose and swollen arms.
