After the Constitutional Court announced its verdict on the presidential-election dispute on Thursday evening, president-elect Joko "Jokowi" Widodo said he would immediately prepare the next Cabinet.
"We are going to meet with officials from the current Cabinet to discuss further on what we should do next and what problems we are facing today. We need to do this immediately," Jokowi told reporters in Jakarta.
He and his running mate Jusuf Kalla thanked the Constitutional Court at the press conference for its professionalism and fairness in the dispute.
"Even though some of the judges came from the Prabowo Subianto-Hatta Rajasa camp, they were able to deliver a fair judgment," Kalla said.
He added that it was better for Prabowo and Hatta not to continue their legal battle to the Supreme Court or the Jakarta State Administrative Court (PTUN).
"The Constitutional Court's verdict is legally binding, it is a final decision. What else can be brought to the Supreme Court and PTUN? [If they do], they will create problems for the people in the country," he said.
At the end of his speech, Jokowi said that he regarded Prabowo and Hatta as his friends.
"We do not need any reconciliation because they are my friends," the president-elect said in a reconciliatory tone.
