Muhammad Hanif bin Mas Selamat, better known as Masyhadi, is facing immigration charges, said his lawyer Achmad Michdan.

Mr Achmad further revealed that Masyhadi is being held at an undisclosed location, and his family has not been told of his whereabouts.

Jakarta Globe also reported that Masyadi lived in Indonesia since primary-school age, and had studied at a Muslim boarding school in Boyolali before going on to become a preacher in Pacitan and Madiun, two towns in East Java.

His official wedding was on Sep 6, with the reception on Oct 20. It was held at MUI Building.

However, the report does not confirm whether Masyadi is a Singaporean citizen, or whether his current identity documents were in order.

An investigator from the National Police’s specialist anti-terror unit said the arrest was purely an immigration matter and denied knowledge of any connection to terrorism.
