Medicine named after Indian politicians

Various types of medicine named after Narendra Modi and Rahul Gandhi were launched last month by a Gurgaon-based company ICI Healthcare Pharma.

There are two types of medicine named after Modi - Namoni, a pain-relieving gel and Namo tablets, with a composition of nimuslide and paracetamol, for treating fever and headache.

The medicine named after Rahul Gandhi is Ragaflam, a mixture of dicoflenac and paracetamol to kill pain.

The medicine is being distributed at pharmacies in Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Haryana, Punjab and Assam.

Namo tablets cost Rs80 (S$1.70) per strip and Ragaflam costs up to Rs36 per strip. Pharmacy wholesalers told the media that Namo tablets are selling better than Ragaflam.
