Missing Brunei soldiers found safe

The Ministry of Defence (MinDef) said the two missing Royal Brunei Land Force (RBLF) personnel were found safe at 12.05pm yesterday after they were separated from a group patrol in the forest of Rempayoh, Labi on Thursday.

Lance Corporal Suffiandi Eji and Private Md Fairin Tangkap - who belong to the third RBLF battalion - were evacuated by a Royal Brunei Air Force helicopter and taken to the Lumut Camp Medical Centre, where they were given medical examinations and found to be in healthy condition.

In a statement, the MinDef said the Special Tasks Platoon of RBLF's third battalion led the search and rescue operation, and was assisted by the Gurkha Reserve K9 unit.

Also present during the search was the RBLF commander Colonel Pg Dato Paduka Aminan Pengiran Hj Mahmud. The families of the two personnel have been anticipating the arrival of their loved ones since they were informed of the incident on January 15, the statement added.
