TOKYO - Retailer Ryohin Keikaku will launch a new global flagship Muji store and its first domestic Muji Hotel in Tokyo's Ginza district in spring 2019, the company said Wednesday.
The store, destined for a tree-lined street just a two-minute walk from the Tokyo Metro Ginza station, will span more than 3,300 sq. meters, surpassing the current largest Muji location in the nearby Yurakucho neighborhood.
A 10-story building being developed by the Yomiuri Shimbun group and Mitsui Fudosan will host both the store and hotel.
The store will occupy one basement floor up to part of the sixth floor above ground, with the rest of the space devoted to the hotel.
Odakyu Electric Railway unit UDS will operate the hotel, and Ryohin Keikaku will supervise interior designs and supply items such as beds, sheets and toothbrushes. The number of guest rooms and pricing have yet to be determined.
