Saodah, 43, a woman who allegedly hired a man to kill her polygamist husband stood trial at the North Jakarta District Court along with two other defendants on Thursday.
"All of the defendants will appear at the first hearing at 1 p.m. during which they will hear an indictment," Saodah's lawyer, Hendrayanto, said as quoted by kompas.com on Thursday.
Saodah allegedly plotted a murder against her husband Mustain, whom she had been married to for 20 years, because Mustain had married another woman and abandoned their family.
According to the police's investigation, Saodah hired Paidi, a suspected hit man from Gresik in East Java, with the help of her friend Hasun. She reportedly paid the suspected contract killer Rp 4 million (US$334) to murder her husband.
The three defendants were charged with Article 340 of the Criminal Code on premeditated murder and Article 338 on murder.
