Netizens go gaga over South Korea president's handsome bodyguard

South Korea has always been known for its Hallyu wave and the country's obsession with beauty.

The latest wave to hit the country comes at the same time as the election of South Korea's new President Moon Jae In.

There's no coincidence because President Moon's hunky bodyguard has gotten everyone talking - and swooning.

This time round, it seems like netizens everywhere have joined South Koreans as they ogle at their latest eye candy.

According to The Korea Times, this brooding good-looker is Choi Young-jae and was an officer with Korea's Special Warfare Command.

In fact, Moon's campaign office had even released a statement earlier this month to say that "(Choi) is ‘unfortunately' married and has two daughters".

It's safe to say that online reactions to this bodyguard's dashing good looks have been nothing short of hilarious.

Online K-pop site Koreaboo reported that Korean netizens are calling him the "Face Hegemony" as a joke because his good looks are said to have led the way for President Moon's victory.

Some even congratulated the South Korean president for his "winning strategy".

Choi is said to be a part of President Moon's "handsome brigade", a term that the Korean media came up with just for the group of good-looking men in the new administration. Yes, apparently there's more than one attractive person working for the new Prez.

Netizens have come out to shower praise on Choi for his smouldering, "spy-like" looks.

One Twitter user jokingly shared why he's the bodyguard: "This makes perfect sense. Any potential attackers would be too distracted by his looks."

Another believes he deserves a lead role in a romantic K-drama.

Well, if he ever decides on a career switch, it looks like he could give Hallyu star Song Joong Ki a run for his money.
