A new level of phone obsession

There is hardly anybody who is not obsessed with his or her mobile phone.

But a motorcyclist in China took it to an entirely different level, People's Daily Online reported.

He was knocked down in a road accident, but instead of trying to get help, he was busy playing with his phone.

The bizarre photos were taken in Changsha, the capital of southern Hunan province.

He was hit by a car at a busy junction in downtown Changsha early this week.

The bike fell on its side and boxes he was delivering were left scattered across the road.

When the police arrived, he refused to get up and told them that he was waiting for an ambulance.

The report said he insisted on remaining sprawled across on the road while using his phone, even though this caused major traffic jams.

The police managed to take the man to hospital and he was discharged soon after as he only had minor injuries.

Some netizens believe the man deliberately threw himself from the bike to claim compensation from the car driver.

The photos were shared on Weibo, the Chinese equivalent of Twitter, Mail Online reported.

One user said: "After getting the compensation, what stock is he going to buy?"

Another user added: "This is like a drug addiction."
