From being nobody to being famous overnight

Here's an eye opener: China's most famous digital blogger is more popular than the country's top movie and sports star celebrities combined - by a pretty wide margin.

With hundreds of millions of netizens desperate to discuss or deride the "next big thing", the phenomena of Web celebrities - the number of people made famous overnight on the Internet - has become enormous.

For the casual browser, sharing hilarious or shocking stories or clips about crazy stunts may be just a bit of fun but that's exactly how these people rise to fame - whether for likeable reasons or not.

Most Web users mock almost anything and anyone so the ability of enduring humiliation is a must for these Internet celebrities. Of course, there are many other ways to get fame other than self-humiliation.

The photos below show the most-talked-about celebrities in the cyber world and how they became famous as well as the celebrities who were once homeless.
