It costs only RM2,000 (S$766) for a gun or a homemade bomb to be delivered to the doorstep from southern Thailand, Harian Metro reported.
An agent who only wanted to be known as Tam said that more than 200 agents such as himself were active in smuggling weapons from southern Thailand to Malaysia.
Tam, a Thai in his 30s, said most of those involved were Thais and they work from border towns such as Padang Besar, Betong, Sungai Golok and Tak Bai.
"It costs RM2,000 for delivery, depending on the type of weapon and the distance," he said.
He said the weapons were not bought by those who wanted to keep them as a hobby or for fun but by those who had plans to carry out illegal activities.
