A violent fight broke out between students and military instructors at a school in Hunan province on Aug 24, resulting in more than 40 people to be injured.
According to a report on China Smack, the incident took place at Huangcang High School.
It was reported that a fight had broken out between the military instructor and some students in the morning. Because the students outnumbered him, the instructor lost.
The military drill instructor had then used 'corporal punishment' on freshmen students in the afternoon session, even stepping on them with his foot when they could no longer do more.
When the teacher-in-charge tried to intervene, he was apparently beaten as well.
Other students came to their teacher's defence and joined in the brawl, and so did the other soldiers.
The situation soon spiraled out of control and turned into chaos.
A staff member of the school confirmed that the incident took place and said:
"The students are freshmen, the teacher is the head teacher of the class, and there were "quite a lot" of military drill instructors involved, with the instructors having been sent by the county's People's Armed Forces Department."
It is said that the teacher was the most seriously injured. He and the students were all sent to hospital for treatment.
