A pickup truck was driven off the third storey of a parking lot at Chiang Mai's Central Festival Mall early yesterday, crashing into an empty parked sedan below. Two people were injured.

Damages were estimated at Bt300,000 (S$11,740) and the cause of the accident, which occurred just after midnight, was believed to have stemmed from the driver's inexperience.

Driver Prathanporn Taemklong, 19, fractured her left leg and arm, and passenger Peerapong Khampong, also 19, sustained a cut on the eyebrow. They were taken to a nearby hospital. Initial investigation showed that Prathanporn was unable to control the car's speed as it hit the metal barrier and fell on to the lower level.
