Police leave canceled until after election
Indonesian police search a polling station prior to the presidential elections.

The National Police have cancelled all leave until the entire process of the presidential election has been completed.

As of Monday, all officers will have to remain at their posts until further notice after the presidential election.

The National Police's Security Maintenance Agency chief, Comr. Gen. Putut Eko Bayuseno, told Antara that officials at all levels should remain alert and ready for any eventuality.

He also called on citizens not to be easily incited by provocative actions and instead report them to the police.

Indonesia is holding its presidential poll today, which sees a head-to-head contest between former army general Prabowo Subianto with his running mate National Mandate Party (PAN) politician Hatta Rajasa and non-active Jakarta Governor Joko Widodo with his running mate former vice president Jusuf Kalla.

The government has decreed today a public holiday for civil servants and private employees.
