Porsche ran over cyclist

JAKARTA - The police named Steven Christian, 25, a suspect in a traffic accident on Sunday in which the Porsche sports car he was driving ran over a cyclist on Jl. Jendral Sudirman, Central Jakarta.

City police spokesperson Sr. Comr. Rikwanto said on Monday that the suspect was accused of reckless driving that caused injury.

"The suspect was not detained, but the legal process continues," he said.

Rikwanto said the police found that the suspect was drowsy while driving on the main thoroughfare at 6:30 a.m.

He ran over Firdaus, a member of a cyclists' group gathering to exercise on Car Free Day on Sunday.

Firdaus suffered head injuries and a broken leg. Rikwanto said that Steven had never obtained a driver's license. Earlier, the suspect told the police that he had lost the license.
