Reward for Bangkok shopping mall bombers doubled

The reward for information leading to the arrest of two men suspected of planting and detonating two pipe bombs near Siam Paragon last week has been increased to Bt200,000(S$8 300), a senior police investigator said yesterday.

An increase of Bt100,000 had been offered by a Good Samaritan who preferred not to be identified and was on top of Bt100,000 offered by the police, said Pol Maj-General Jitti Rodbangyang, a deputy Metropolitan Police Bureau commissioner.

He said police could not tell whether the two suspects seen carrying out the attacks in surveillance-camera footage were still in Thailand or had fled abroad.

MPB commissioner Pol Lt-General Sriwara Ransibrahmanakul said police could not hasten inquiries, as demanded by the media, as further evidence about the suspects was needed.
