President Park Geun-hye will travel to Europe next week to attend the 10th Asia-Europe Meeting to be held in Milan, Italy, Cheong Wa Dae said Wednesday.
After the ASEM summit, Park will meet Pope Francis to reciprocate his visit to South Korea in August, her spokesman Min Kyung-wook said.
At ASEM summit, leaders are expected to open dialogues to enhance "connectivity" between Asia and Europe on economic cooperation and global matters, he said.
President Park will also hold a summit with her counterparts Italian President Giorgio Napolitano and Prime Minister Matteo Renzi, after attending the biannual meeting with leaders of Asian and European countries.
The leaders of South Korea and Italy are expected to discuss ways to seek strategic partnerships in a wide range of fields including the economy, culture and science and technology, Min added.
