S'pore woman 'jumps' from hotel balcony in Pattaya

SINGAPORE - A Singaporean woman is believed to have jumped from her fifth-storey balcony at a hotel in the Thai resort town of Pattaya on Monday.

Police investigator Sombat Kaewmulmook told the Bangkok Post that the woman, 42, sustained a broken left leg and had breathing difficulties.

She was taken to Bangkok Hospital Pattaya.

The woman's husband, 42, told police that they had gone out for drinks. When they returned to their hotel, the woman wanted to continue drinking.

When her husband tried to stop her, an argument ensued. As the argument got louder, other people in the hotel complained.

Mr Songkran Suwamas, a hotel security guard, told the Bangkok Post that he went to the room to ask the couple to lower their voices.

Other hotel staff members were also there and as he was talking to them, the woman dashed to the balcony and jumped, he said.

Police are investigating, said the newspaper.
