Syndicate dug up and sold corpses for newly deceased singles

China police crippled a syndicate stealing corpses in a village in Shandong province recently, reported Kwong Wah Yit Poh.

The syndicate would dig out a body and sell it to the family members of a newly deceased, who was single, so that it could be buried together with their loved one.

In that village, anyone who dies unmarried must be buried together with a corpse of the opposite sex, it reported.

According to one of the suspects, he and eight accomplices had dug out a female corpse, which was buried three months ago, and sold it for about RM9,000 (S$3500).
