Universities committed to boosting performance
Students who have recently graduated from senior high school take part in a state university entrance exam in Jakarta.

Several universities signed a joint declaration on Tuesday to develop vocational education in an endeavour to improve their students' competence in facing the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC).

The declaration's signatories were the University of Indonesia, Gadjah Mada University in Yogyakarta, Brawijaya University in Malang, Bogor Agricultural Institute in Bogor and Yogyakarta State University.

The joint declaration stipulates that the universities will work hand-in-hand to produce graduates with certified competence.

He emphasised the importance of vocational training and education to allow students to have their own interests and improve their skills and productivity during employment.
