'Pokemon with You', an organisation launched following the 2011 earthquake and tsunami, came up with the initiative, intending to bring smiles to children and adults living in Ichinoseki's city centre during their morning commutes.

The train will begin its daily service July 15 and run throughout the summer holiday season on the Ofunato Line. It will depart at Ichinoseki and arrive in Kesennuma in just under two hours.
