A woman was arrested yesterday for allegedly organising last week's hand-grenade attack on Criminal Court via the phone application LINE, a police source said.
The suspect, identified only as Dear, was nabbed near the border in Mukdahan province. She had allegedly conducted a LINE chat with suspect Mahahin Khunthong discussing details on how to carry out the attack.
Mahahin had the bomb thrower on the back of his motorcycle at the time of the attack.
The LINE chat was discovered after the bomb suspects were nabbed at the scene and their mobile phones seized.
Police had earlier arrested Nares Intharasopha, a milk shop owner in Khon Kaen province, for allegedly holding a meeting to organise the attack. He was also allegedly paid Bt20,000 (S$842) by Dear to fund the attack.
Meanwhile, the authorities will today hand over to the police the seven suspects arrested in relation to this attack for further investigation and prosecution. Two other suspects are still at large.
Metropolitan Police Bureau chief Pol Lt-General Sriwara Ransibrahmanakul said "financiers unknown to police" were behind the grenade attack on the court and the double pipe bombs near Siam Paragon shopping mall.
Though police have acquired solid evidence against those who coordinated the pipe-bomb attack, "police cannot identify them", he added.
