An invitation letter sent out by a Phichit school yesterday for people to attend a Children's Day event today cited the name of former premier Yingluck Shinawatra instead of incumbent Prayut Chan-o-cha.

Sasithorn Aphinanthano, deputy director of Ban Pak Thang school in Muang municipality, apologised for what she described as a printing error by the school and asked the recipients of the invitations - the heads of 35 state agencies - to give them back.

She vowed to send out new invitations in time.

The mistake was either noted or criticised by netizens after pictures of the error were distributed online.

Some people speculate that it was not a mistake given that the invitation was signed by the school's director, Wisal Rodkamnerd.

The secondary school is preparing the party for 2,600 students, with business operators also set to attend as well as sponsors who have supplied gifts and food.
