SINGAPORE - The Housing & Development Board (HDB) on Thursday launched 8,000 flats for sale under the joint Build-to-Order (BTO) and Sale of Balance Flats (SBF) exercise.

HDB will offer 4,900 BTO flats over eight projects in five non-mature towns: Choa Chu Kang, Hougang, Jurong West, Sembawang, and Woodlands.

It will offer another 3,100 balance flats in 11 non-mature and 15 mature estates under the SBF Exercise. They comprise 602 studio apartments, 219 two-room, 396 three-room, 1,381 four-room, 478 five-room flats, and 24 executive flats.

Flat applications start Thursday and will end on June 5, 2013.

HDB said it will offer another 3,800 BTO flats for sale in Bukit Merah, Sengkang, and Yishun later in July.

Additionally, three new housing measures announced during the 2013 Committee of Supply debate will also kick in with this sales exercise.

The Parenthood Priority Scheme (PPS) for expectant mothers will be extended to married first-timers who are expecting a child, over and above married first-timers with a citizen child.

The quota of two- and three-room BTO flats for second-timers in non-mature estates will also be doubled to 30 per cent from 15 per cent previously.

HDB will also reserve 50 per cent of the studio apartment supply in BTO and SBF exercises for elderly applicants under the Studio Apartment Priority Scheme (SAPS), to help those looking for a studio apartment near their current home, or near their married children.
