Get/Qnect's background:

Get (previously known as Qnect), was founded by Daniel Liang during his first year of university as a society president and as an event organiser as a side business, whilst studying. It was born on the premise of the signature social ticketing concept where friends can discover event tickets based on what tickets their friends paid for, displayed via a feed. Since then it has aggressively targeted student groups and expanded from not just event tickets but to help the sales of club memberships and merchandise.

The impact of evolving to "Get" had 3 key reasons: Firstly being, easier to get things: This morning, Daniel's public letter includes why Qnect changed its name to Get, describing "It brings us closer to our mission of helping our student users Get tickets, Get memberships and Get Merchandise from all the student clubs, and potentially more - easier & faster.Secondly, bringing it to more people in the untapped market: Ultimately using Get has saved hours for society committees replacing existing tools they had to use for several needs across multiple team members. This stack includes Google Forms, bank transfers, cash collection, other ticketing tools, Shopify for merchandise, Membership tools, Mailchimp, Bank Account transaction history, and Excel sheets for accounting - Get has been able to provide all in one. Thirdly, Community Infrastructure: What differentiates Get was always its community, social feed and features, that ultimately drive its organisers sales, as friends discover their friends' purchases to club and society events or items.

Its web and mobile software will be operating the same, but under the brand name Get. It has released new versions of its club & society payment collection platform adding on the ability to conveniently create digital membership cards to issue to students to hold, store & sell  merchandise inventory (T-shirts, notebooks, hoodies), and conveniently collect In-person payments (Cash & Card payments)

It has since started helping schools in Singapore in October, following its expansion in Hong Kong in Sep 2017 (https://www.techinasia.com/talk/how-app-dominated-hong-kong-universities-1-month) adding more schools.
