Challenging quarter for S'pore companies
UOB surprised analysts by posting a 5.7 per cent drop in net profit to $762 million for the second quarter, hit by a fall in trading and investment income. The other two local banks – DBS and OCBC – enjoyed strong profit growth, but still faced softer demand for loans.
