'It means that I'm still laku'

While Nora Danish sees her personal life making sensational headlines in the media, Farid Kamil has managed to steer clear of controversy.

At the interview with his Pengantin Malam co-star, Farid said that he makes a conscious effort to remain low-key.

"I am a private person. I prefer to relax... no publicity. Even if I've been filming in the past two years, I prefer not to announce what I do, especially when there is nothing to say," said the Malaysian actor.

But even he could not avoid the collateral damage from the online photo of Nora holding his hand.

Farid, 33, said that he understood his wife's jealousy, but did not openly address the matter with her.

"I have no comment, but it is only normal that the emotion is present in all wives.

"Still, the incident should not have spread the way it did and I hope that everyone can forgive her actions. It did take me by surprise... a little bit," said Farid, who tied the knot with Diana, 22, in 2012.

When asked about his reaction to his wife's jealousy, the usually serious actor joked: "It showed me that I'm still 'laku' (Malay for in demand), still a hero (in Diana's eyes)."

"Hero" is also a name Farid once earned for himself in the industry for his long list of back-to-back roles in his 11-year acting career.

He has starred in films like romance dramas Lagenda Budak Setan 2: Katerina (2012)and Lagenda Budak Setan (2010) as well as comedy Cuti-cuti Cinta (2010) and action flicks Evolusi: KL Drift (2008) and Evolusi: KL Drift 2 (2010).

ACTOR, FATHER

Farid, who recently completed two Hari Raya telemovies, is now juggling acting with playing dad to his one-year-old son, Muhammad.

"I have to get used to sleepless nights. Now that I am a parent, my focus is 100 per cent on him. But this is new and exciting to me .It lights up my life," he said.

He admitted to being a strict father when it comes to his son's diet.

"My father is a doctor specialising in nutrition so he imparts a lot of knowledge to me. So no Coke, no chocolates, no sweet things... at least until my son can learn to make decisions for himself.

"Even when Diana was pregnant, I monitored her food intake very closely because I know whatever she eats will affect our son," said Farid.

The couple both hope for additions to the family in the future.

"I'm always waiting, I want to have as many children as possible, both girls and boys. As for Diana, she wants 14 more," said Farid.
