Malaysia May inflation picks up after consumer tax, slightly above f'cast

KUALA LUMPUR - Malaysia's consumer price index in May rose 2.1 percent from a year earlier after a new consumption tax was introduced the previous month, data from the Statistics Department showed on Friday.

The May inflation rate was above economists' median estimate of 2.0 percent in a Reuters poll.
