Malaysia's AirAsia Q3 net profit up 3.62 pct

KUALA LUMPUR – Malaysia’s AirAsia Bhd , Asia’s biggest budget carrier, said net profit for the third quarter ended Sept 30 rose 3.62 percent to 157.81 million Malaysian ringgit (S$63 million) as its passenger levels rose.

Revenue increased 14.4 percent to 1.24 billion ringgit from 1.08 billion ringgit for the same period last year, the firm said in a statement on Wednesday.

Shares of AirAsia fell 0.35 percent to 2.85 ringgit per share, underperforming the Malaysian benchmark stock index’s 0.08 percent drop.
