MindChamps named franchise of the year

SINGAPORE - Education provider MindChamps has been selected by a panel of peers and industry experts as the Singapore Franchisor of the Year at the Franchise and Licensing Association's 2013 Awards.

Recognising franchises for their success and innovation,  Ms Karen Eidsvik, Chair of the Franchising and Licensing Association, said on MindChamps: "Not only does it provide world-class educational services, its business model is so attractive that it sold 20 franchises before it even opened its first premises in Singapore," 

Gelateria Italia was named "Promising Franchise of The Year". The company's first store opened in 2011 in Plaza Singapura; and by the following year in 2012, it had opened other outlets in Orchard Road, Jurong and Bugis.

The 2013 Franchisee of the Year went to Ms Kelly Chee Foong Pui's chain of franchised 7-Eleven stores. Ms Chee opened her first franchised 7-Eleven store in Toa Payoh in 2007. Since then she has built her business empire around the franchise with 9 stores across Singapore, employing more than 60 people.

In Singapore, franchise companies generate more than $6 billion in annual sales, capturing 20 per cent of all retail spending here.
