Opening ceremony of the 2nd Zhuhai International Mozart Competition for Young Musicians held in China's Zhuhai on Sep 12

ZHUHAI, China, Sept. 14, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Following more than a year of preparation, the opening ceremony of the 2nd Zhuhai International Mozart Competition for Young Musicians was held in the Zhuhai Huafa & CPAA Grand Theatre in Zhuhai, China on the evening of September 12.

Guests attending the opening ceremony included members of the Standing Committee of the CPPCC National Committee, president of the Chinese Musicians Association and famous composer YE Xiaogang; and member of Zhuhai CPC Municipal Committee and the committee's Publicity Department director LONG Guangyan. The "all-star" jury comprising 15 leading musicians from within China as well as from abroad, including Austrian pianist and the event's artistic director for piano Klaus Kaufmann, Austrian violinist and the event's artistic director for the violin Paul Roczek, French pianist, conductor and jury chairman for piano Michel Beroff, and German classical violinist and jury chairman for the violin Friedemann Eichhorn, also attended the opening ceremony. 

Zhuhai International Mozart Competition for Young Musicians is a comprehensive international non-profit communications event for young musicians, approved by the Ministry of Culture of the People's Republic of China under the aegis of the Guangdong Province Department of Culture, co-hosted by the Zhuhai Municipal People's Government and the Mozarteum University of Salzburg, Austria, and organized by Zhuhai Huafa Group. As an internationally influential cultural event, the competition, since its inception, has enjoyed the support of the Chinese Musicians Association as well as the Austrian Embassy in China and has been widely acclaimed across social circles. The event has joined the Alink-Argerich Foundation and become an internationally recognized art brand, gaining influence across the international art world.

The opening concert was deemed a success. Macao Orchestra, a distinguished Asian ensemble, performed at the concert, with renowned conductor LU Jia serving both as the orchestra's artistic director and conductor at the event. One of last year's winning violinists HE Ziyu and winning pianists Mao Fujita also performed at the concert. The Macau Bride Suite, composed by YE Xiaogang, pushed the concert to an exciting climax. The event was a true blend of Chinese and Western culture, culminating in a wonderful evening.
