Over 10,000 BTO, balance flats launched for sale in November exercise

More than 10,000 public flats were launched for sale on Tuesday (Nov 22), in the biggest Build-To-Order (BTO) and Sale of Balance Flats exercise this year.

In a statement, the Housing and Development Board (HDB) said that a total of 10,118 flats, comprising 5,110 BTO units and 5,008 balance flats, were put up for sale.

The BTO flats on offer range from 2-room flexi to Three-Generation units, and are spread across nine projects. These include 2,194 across three projects in the non-mature town of Punggol, while the other six projects are in the mature estates of Bedok, Bidadari and Kallang/Whampoa.

Prices for the BTO flats, after housing grants, range between $4,000 and $493,000.

Eligible first-timer families can enjoy up to $80,000 of housing grants, and first-timers will continue to enjoy priority in flat allocations, HDB said.

There are also 5,008 balance flats, ranging from 2-room flexi units to Three-Generation and executive flats, on offer across 25 towns and estates.

HDB said that about 33 per cent of the balance flats launched have already been completed, while the rest are under construction.

Prospective buyers can submit their applications online from today until next Monday (Nov 28).

With the latest exercise, HDB said that a total of 28,069 BTO and balance flats have been launched in 2016.

In a Facebook post, National Development Minister Lawrence Wong encouraged families who need flats more urgently to consider applying for one in a non-mature estate.

"We're trying our best to provide more options for home-buyers. But given limited land and the popularity of projects in mature areas, we can expect application numbers to exceed the units available," he wrote.

The next BTO exercise will be held in February next year, with 4,100 flats to be offered in Clementi, Punggol, Tampines and Woodlands.
