POSB rolls out improvements at branches to cut waiting times for customers

Customers seeking cash-related services, such as deposits and withdrawals, will no longer have to queue up at the general enquiries station first before being redirected to join the main queue.

All general enquiry stations will eventually be replaced by "Quick Serve" counters where staff will handle non-cash-related transactions and enquiries that don't take more than 15 minutes.

POSB also intends to shorten queues at teller counters with "Teller Assist Units" that can count, deposit and dispense cash on their own. This replaces cash drawers where tellers had to count cash manually.

AsiaOne understands that this is expected to cut transaction time by up to 2 minutes.

However, customers will not see these services in all POSB bank branches as yet. AsiaOne understand that they will be progressively rolled out as bank branches undergo remodelling. These services are currently available at White Sands, Jurong Point, ITE College Central, and Ang Mo Kio branches.

At the Ang Mo Kio Central branch on Monday, POSB also launched a new uniform for its service staff.

This is the 10th design since the first uniform introduced in 1972.

Blue and yellow colours are still part of the design, but the POSB logo is weaved into an Asian motif on the cuffs.

All service staff are expected to don the new uniform by the first quarter of this year, POSB said in a press release.
