SINGAPORE - The Shunfu HUDC Estate comprising of 358 units in 6 blocks  has been privatised, HDB said on Thursday.

Along with the privatisation, the Bishan-Toa Payoh Town Council will no longer manage and maintain the common properties of the estate.

Here is the press release from the Housing and Development Board:

The Shunfu (Bishan) HUDC Estate has been converted into a strata-titled property under the Land Titles (Strata) Act, with effect from 28 Mar 2013. Shunfu (Bishan) HUDC estate comprises 358 units of flats at Blocks 314, 315, 316, 317, 318 and 319 Shunfu Road.

Along with the privatisation, the Bishan-Toa Payoh Town Council will cease its responsibility in the management and maintenance of the common properties of the estate with effect from Mar 28, 2013.

The Management Corporation Strata Title Plan No. 3676 is also constituted on the same day to manage and maintain the common property of the estate. Individual owners in the estate now own their respective strata units, as well as the common property such as car parks and open landscaped areas, as tenants-in-common.

Privatisation of HUDC estates was announced in 1995 as part of the Government's effort to meet the rising aspirations of Singaporeans to own private housing. It also enables the owners to have better control over the management and maintenance of their estate.
