STJobs to hold Career and Development fair this weekend

SINGAPORE - STJobs Career & Development Fair 2014, organised by STJobs, is now into its third consecutive year.

The career fair is one of Singapore's biggest and most exciting congregations of job seekers, employers and training providers in a single venue.

A slew of industry leading companies are brought together to headline the fair, occupying a sizeable portion of 250 exhibitors offering thousands of recruitment or training opportunities and programmes.

Visitors to the fair can look forward to meeting with representatives from some of Singapore's biggest companies, including DBS Bank Limited, Western Digital, Jay Gee Melwani Group and Sephora (Singapore) Pte Ltd.

The STJobs Career & Development Fair 2014 will be held on 12 and 13 July* at Marina Bay Sands Expo Halls D & E.

**Admission to the fair is free. Singaporeans and PRs are invited for admission on 12 & 13 July 2014. Foreigners with valid work passes or student passes from local institutions are invited for admission on 13 July only.

STJobs will also be introducing its portal www.stjobs.sg, which has had a facelift and added several new functions such as personalisation of information on the jobs, how many people have applied for the same job, and skill sets that benchmark against other applicants.

Ms Ang Ying Hui, STJobs' senior product manager, said: "Our event aims to provide a holistic job hunting experience, with more than 1,000 job openings and five zonal activities targeted to help jobseekers enrich and present themselves better to their potential employers. At the event, STJobs will be unveiling their new site which will provide better job search experience with exciting and career-related features."

STJobs is providing job seekers with five specially designed zones this year. The zones are planned in such a way that they flow from one to another and visitors are encouraged to move from the first zone and follow through to the rest.

The purple zone (Know Yourself) is the place for job seekers to start their job hunt. Job seekers can go for a tarot card reading or fengshui reading to receive new perspective on career-related questions. This is a place for job seekers to get to know themselves better in their career path.

The red zone (Introduce Yourself) is the second zone, where job seekers can take part in a one-on-one resume consultation. Pre-registration is required for this activity. Experts will teach them how to craft a resume that will truly reflect their skills, ability and potential to make them stand out from the crowd.

The yellow zone (Present Yourself) is the third zone where job seekers can get insights on three key areas of their dressing to enhance their appearance at an image consultation. Visitors to the fair will get the rare opportunity to get made over by makeup and hairstyling experts and have their resume photos taken. Pre-registration is required for the makeover activity.

STJobs is located at the blue zone (Do-It-Yourself). Visitors can create a new STJobs account, log on to their STJobs account at the computer terminals provided, and browse through thousands of job listings or upload their resumes from their thumb drives to apply for jobs.

The green zone (Improve & Upgrade Yourself) is the fifth and last zone for visitors who are interested to find out how to plan their career path or be part of a certain organisation as they can attend free seminars. STJobs has lined up speakers from various organisations speaking on a range of interesting topics on both days of the career fair. Interested job seekers would need to pre-register early for this activity.

In addition, there will be daily lucky draws with amazing prizes to be given away. Visitors will receive an admission cum lucky draw card at the registration counter that they can use to collect all zonal stamps to be eligible for the lucky draws.

Registering online earlier also allows job seekers to preview job listings before everyone else gets to see it. Limited places for the seminars, resume clinics and image makeovers are also open to all job seekers. Visitors who are interested are strongly encouraged to sign up earlier online.
