SINGAPORE - STJobs, Singapore's leading online jobs portal by SPH will be providing job seekers with an exclusive opportunity to record their video resume or visume at the STJobs Career & Development Fair on 13 and 14 July* at Marina Bay Sands Expo, Halls D & E.

The second annual STJobs Career & Development Fair is one of Singapore's largest job fairs with close to 200 exhibitors and employers and four zonal setups. What sets it apart from others is that it provides an all-rounded approach - from offering real, fresh jobs to helping one upgrade his employability via free grooming & photography workshops, free seminars and fun career building tips - to the whole job hunting process.

This year, STJobs is proud to introduce a new job application tool, My Visume at the career fair. Attendees can register to record a short video resume that best describes his skills and qualifications to be sent to a prospective employer.

There will be booths for visitors to the fair to do their recording in private, and staff to guide them along the way.

Says Mr Johnson Goh, Head and Vice President of SPH Online Classifieds (ST701): "In recent years, demographic changes and global competition are major factors altering Singapore's employment laws. In today's job market, no matter how impressive one's skills or CV are, a resume is no sure ticket to success. But for those who are willing to stand out, opportunities abound and recording a visume is one of them."

Adds Ms Kee Ee Kheng, Senior Product Manager of STJobs: "While a paper resume may be easier to read, making a visume to complement a traditional CV creates a visible impact. It allows one to demonstrate interpersonal, creative and technical skills to a potential employer, while showcasing one's personality. Employers will also be able to determine whether one would fit into the company culture through the way he presents himself since the visume provides a more personal view."

All slots offered to job seekers were fully booked within less than 5 days of the launch of the career fair's microsite.

Among those who have pre-registered is Mr J Wang, 26. He says: "Creating a visume is a much more convenient way of showcasing myself directly (to the employers). I feel that it gives me an edge over other job seekers."

Another job seeker, Ms C Lin, 23, thinks that a visume is a "useful tool" through which she could "engage better with employers and interest them".

STJobs will be extending more slots to cater to the overwhelming response from the public, subject to availability onsite.

Additionally, there will be daily lucky draws on both days. Prizes include brand-name watches and tablets. Job seekers can check out recruitment opportunities with big names such as SMRT Corporation, Keppel Offshore & Marine, Singapore Airlines, AIA Singapore and more.
