Website for unclaimed life insurance back online a day after crash

A new online register launched by the Life Insurance Association (LIA Singapore) for members of public to check on any unclaimed life insurance proceeds is now back online after it crashed on Monday (Jan 4).

LIA Singapore said in a statement on Tuesday that the site had crashed due to "overwhelming response".

"We are currently working to ensure within the week that this issue will not recur," LIA Singapore said.

"The register will continue to be available online as an on-going service to the public."

It also added that it has received positive feedback since the launch of this initiative.

The "LIA Register of Unclaimed Life Proceeds" shows the name of the policyholder, the policyholder's masked identification number and the name of the life insurance company.

The association also provided an example of how a child was found to have unclaimed insurance proceeds for 30 years from a policy owned by a parent.

Members of the public can access the register at: https://www.lia.org.sg/consumers/unclaimed-proceeds/list.
