Weir appoints President of its China business

 

 

GLASGOW, UK and SHANGHAI, Nov. 21, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- The Weir Group PLC, one of the world's leading engineering businesses, announced that it has appointed Dr. Jianzhong Lu as Weir Group China President.

Dr. Lu joins Weir from the global strategic communications advisory firm Brunswick, where he was a Partner advising Chinese and multi-national companies on their China and global strategies. His previous roles include Group Executive Vice President (China) of RGE and Acting President of BHP Billiton (China).

Dr. Lu has a long track record of leadership roles in China and Australia, and his appointment reinforces Weir's commitment to one of the world's largest and most attractive markets. In his role as President, Dr. Lu will be responsible for building relations with government, major customers and other key stakeholders as Weir builds on its existing market position to bring world-leading technology to China.

Dr. Jianzhong Lu -- Biography

Before joining Weir Group, Dr. Jianzhong Lu was a Partner at Brunswick Group, an advisory firm specializing in business critical issues, where he advised multinational companies on how to navigate the market landscape in China. Prior to Brunswick, Dr. Lu served as Group Executive Vice President (China) of RGE, an international resource development company, as well as Chairman of the Board of its downstream pulp and paper subsidiary, Asia Symbol (Shandong) Ltd. Before joining RGE, he was Acting President of BHP Billiton (China) and before that BHP Billiton (China) Vice President of Corporate Affairs in charge of corporate affairs strategy and sustainable business leadership in China. He was also responsible for BHP's Mainland China uranium business.

Previously, he served as a project consultant to the United Nations and UNCTAD trade efficiency program. Dr. Lu is deputy Director General of China CSR Think Tank, and the founder of the CSR Thought Laboratory in Shanghai, which is a volunteer based collaborative forum for CSR managers of Fortune 500 companies dedicated to leading CSR and Sustainable Business practices. Dr. Lu is also a guest professor at Tianjin Nan Kai University and has served multiple noteworthy institutions in roles focused on sustainable business strategies.

Dr. Lu received a Ph.D. in E-commerce from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology, Australia. He also holds a Master's in management and technology innovation from ECP, Paris, and a bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering from Zhejiang University, China.
