A Chinese boy owned up to his mischief, admitting that he had urinated in the lift repeatedly. He also promised to clean the lift for a month.
The unidentified boy had been caught on the lift security camera several times but the frustrated property owner could not identify him.
Building management then started to circulate a footage of the boy doing the deed among residents of the high-rise building in Xianyang city, Shaanxi province.
It later spread on Chinese social media, according to a report by China Business News.
Management later identified the boy when his mother, feeling sorry, admitted to the boy's misbehaviour on the residential building's WeChat group.
"After finding out about this situation, we scolded and educated him last night. He knows what he has done wrong and hopes you will all forgive him. He also wants to clean the lift as compensation," wrote the mother.
The boy also hand-wrote an apology letter to their neighbours to whom he promised to clean the lift for a month.
Cleaners previously noticed puddles of urine would appear in the lift and leave a foul odour for two weeks, according to the report.
A similar incident occurred sometime in February when another Chinese boy urinated on the lift's buttons.
However, that boy immediately received punishment when his urine short-circuited the lift and trapped him inside.
