Crocodile kebab vendor walks a croc to promote his business

Serving crocodile meat as food is not new, but walking the food on a leash in public before you kill it can be a tad shocking to some.

But not for this vendor.

A kebab vendor in Shenyang, China decided to take his croc on a stroll in public - with its jaws taped shut, of course - in a bid to promote his business.

Onlookers who spotted the dreary beast walking on a leash were seen snapping photos of it.

The crocodile is said to be a product of artificial rearing on commercial farms, measuring 1.5m long and weighing 25kg, reported Sina. Crocodile meat is also said to be nourishing and low in fat.

According to Shanghaiist, the sale of crocodile meat is legal in China, with authorities even claiming that the reproductive technology present assures sufficient crocodiles for human consumption.

Apart from selling croc kebabs, the Chinese vendor also sells cooked centipedes, scorpions and other creepy-crawlies as food on skewers.

The leashed crocodile is also seen to be displayed in front of his stall.

Photos of the croc's stroll in public have attracted various kinds of reactions on social media, with some expressing their love for crocodile meat.

Others were baffled at the cruelty of the act.

However, there were some who felt indifferent about crocodile meat and expressed that killing other animals for meat is way crueller.
