Dad under fire for letting six-year-old son drink beer

Having a drink together may be a great father-son bonding activity, but one dad in China has come under fire after a video clip emerged of him sharing some alcohol with his child.

In the video, six-year-old Zhang Wang is seen guzzling beer from a bottle while eating some kebabs.

He is able to drink up to two bottles of beer, Chinese media reported, but his mother said he only drinks a glass at most.

The boy from Sichuan first made headlines earlier this year for accomplishing a series of feats such as walking on a tightrope blindfolded, rock climbing, and practising Gong Fu.

While netizens lauded his physical feats, they disapproved of the boy's drinking habits, saying that it is bad for his development.

However, the boy's family - including his grandfather and godfather - don't seem to have an issue with him drinking alcohol.

Mr Zhang said his son only drinks a little when they share a bottle of beer during hot weather.

When asked if he enjoyed his drink, the boy said it tasted good and even made a toast to his dad.
