Seeing double? Not for this Chinese couple.

In an extremely rare case of heteropaternal superfecundation (where twins are born with different fathers), a woman's one-night stand was exposed.

The irony?

It's been reported that this scientific phenomenon approximately has a one in 13,000 chance of happening; and this woman hit the proverbial jackpot.

Her affair was only discovered after a DNA test was done out of necessity. According to reports, the mother-of-two (who is from Xiamen, China) requested for a paternity test in order to complete the birth registration for the boys.

However, it's safe to say that the test results were completely unexpected and unsavoury.

The paternity test, which was carried out by the Fujian Zhengtai Judicial Authentication Center, caused a spat between the couple - with the wife alleging that the husband tampered with the results when she was confronted.

And it turns out that the husband wasn't completely clueless as well.

In fact, suspicions were raised when he noticed that he bore no resemblance to one of the boys - citing differences in the mouth, nose, and eyes.

Yet, reports said that the possibility of there being a second father had never occurred to him.

The wife initially denied the claims when he questioned her repeatedly but eventually admitted that she had a one-night stand with another man.

In response to this, the father has revealed that he was "happy to raise his own child, but not the one from someone else".
