'Smiling pig' rescued from flood in China inspires hilarious memes

Some livestock on a farm in China got a second lease of life after they were rescued from rising floodwaters on Aug 25.

But it was a photo of a smiling pig which made the world giggle and sent photoshop mavens into overdrive.

The image was reportedly taken in Yibin County, Sichuan Province, where men dressed in green uniforms each held the ears of a pig as they dragged it through the knee-deep floodwaters.

Eagle-eyed individuals on the web soon turned the image into comedy gold.

Some of the hilarious memes that were generated by netizens from Weibo and Reddit, like this defiant pig:

Across the pond to the western world, the image was the catalyst for yet another photoshop battle.

And of course, Trump was implicated.

As amusing as the animal's beautific smile is, netizens couldn't help but wonder how the pig could be happy seeing as it could still meet its end soon on the dining table.

Just like these pigs - there's a recent case where UK farm piglets were rescued by firemen earlier this year, only to be barbequed and eaten as sausages six months later. Turns out, the sausages were a gift from the grateful farmer to the firefighters, who had no qualms about grilling them up, horrifying animal activists.

So, unfortunately, for this poor porker, it could very well be a case of out of the water and into the pan.
