WATCH: Schoolgirl praised for attempting to catch falling toddler

What would you do if you saw a child who is about to fall from the ledge of a building?

A 12-year-old girl's instinct was to rush forward to catch him, while other passersby looked on in shock when the incident happened on May 9 in Zhengzhou, China.

The toddler who fell from the third storey of the building landed hard on the ground.

But surveillance footage showed that his fall was probably cushioned by the delivery bag of a stationary scooter which he bounced off before hitting the ground.

While sixth-grader Chen Keyu didn't manage to catch him, she quickly carried the boy up to check on him.

He was taken to hospital with no serious injuries, Shanghaiist reported.

Chen's selfless act has been praised by Chinese netizens, who were moved by her courage and kindness.

Some pointed out that she could've hurt herself if she caught the boy, China Plus reported.
