Woman in China suffers broken neck after falling dog lands on her

One moment she was walking on the street, the next she was lying unconscious on the ground.

A woman in Guangdong, China, was seriously injured on April 15 when a large dog fell off a two-storey building and landed on her.

Her companion, another woman carrying a child, turned around to check on her and noticed that the victim's lips had turned black.

The dog weighed at least 20kg, the witness told CCTV News.

It scampered away unscathed as the woman had broken its fall, surveillance camera footage showed.

But she was not as lucky.

A doctor from the nearby clinic immediately called an ambulance for help.

At the hospital, doctors found that the second, third, and fourth bones of the woman's cervical vertebrae were fractured from the impact.

This may cause her to become paralysed, Southern Metropolis Daily reported.

She is currently under observation in hospital.

It is unclear if the dog had an owner, or how it had gotten into the building.

Local police said that investigations are ongoing.
