How can I access to Newslink?

Before you can start using Newslink, you have to subscribe to the service. New customers can subscribe online or mail or fax a completed Registration Form to receive a Newslink account and password.

What are the subscription charges for Newslink?

The *payment charges, excluding the 3% Goods and Services Tax (GST), are as follows:

Yearly Subscription Fee: 1st ID — S$900
  2nd ID — S$500
  3rd and each subsequent ID — S$250
Article retrieval fee: S$2.00 (exclusive of GST) per article

*  Payable in advance yearly

When do I hear from you after I have registered?

Generally, it takes 10 working days to process and approve your subscription. We will notify you by email after your account is successfully activated.

How do I know about the status of my application?

If you register online, you will get an automated email reply acknowledging receipt of your application. If you register by post, you will receive an email from us after your account is successfully activated.

What do I need to use Newslink?

You will need an Internet account.

For Windows 3.1:
You will need a 486 or higher IBM-compatible PC installed with Windows 3.1; you will also need at least 8MB RAM and 10MB of hard disk space.

For Windows 95:
You will need a 486 or higher IBM-compatible PC installed with Windows 95; you will also need at least 8MB RAM and 150MB of hard disk space. During installation, 63MB of hard disk space is required.

What kind of training is required to use Newslink?

You may wish to attend a briefing on how to use Newslink after your application has been successfully registered. We also have on-line help, and if you get stuck, technical support is only an e-mail away.

Do I pay for connect time?

There is no connect-time charge for the time you spend searching. You are charged only when you decide to retrieve the complete document, based on the list of titles presented to you. You will, however, be billed for your Internet connect time by your Internet Service Provider.

When will I be charged for retrieving an article?

As long as you have gained access to reading an article, you will be charged S$2.00 (excluding the 3% Goods and Services Tax.)

Will I still be charged if my line is disconnected halfway while an article is being retrieved?

If the line drops halfway, you can retrieve the same article again within 24 hours with no extra charge.

How can I find out about usage charges?

After you have successfully logon to NewsLink, go to the bottom of the Search Menu page. Here, you can enquire on the usage for one month. The current month's usage will be available from the 1st of the current month to the previous day.

For example, if you enquire on the 10th of the current month, you will get usage charges from the 1st up to the 9th of the current month.

You can also check on the last three months' usage. Simply click on the month box and choose the month that you wish to enquire, then click on the 'Submit' button.

If I forget to log off, what is there to prevent someone from using my account?

All user information is stored behind a secure firewall in a database with restricted access. We recommend that, as a safety measure, you use the log-off button to terminate your user session so that no one uses your account while you take a break. Exiting your browser will also automatically log you out of the Newslink system.

What If I want to terminate my account?

You must give 90 days' notice before your last expiry date of using Newslink to terminate the Service. Your termination must be given in writing and should be addressed to "Shop@AsiaOne, SPH AsiaOne Ltd, Newslink, 1000 Toa Payoh North, Singapore 318994."
